Deck Construction
We recently engaged Mike Fournier's Sonrise Construction of Tulsa to rebuild our retaining wall and our deck. They installed a new Versa-Lok wall and a new composite deck. The end result of the products used was outstanding! The crew did a super job first with the wall, then with the deck. Geraldo certainly helped us with deck colors and instead of spindles they installed decorative wire. Looks fabulous! I can’t say enough about Mike and his crew. They are the best and we are an envy with our neighbors. Thanks again Mike!
We couldn't be more pleased. Beautiful job. Your workers were great! Friendly and hardworking. Thanks so much.
Wanted to tell you that we enjoyed having Michael update our bathroom. He is very personable and we liked him. Our bathroom looks so nice now. Thank you.

What is the first step in starting a home remodeling project?

The first step is to define your goals and budget. Consider what changes you’d like to make and how much you’re willing to spend. Then, contact a reputable remodeling contractor to discuss your ideas and get a detailed quote.

How do I choose the right contractor?

Look for contractors with experience, good reviews, proper licensing, and insurance. Ask for references and examples of their previous work. A clear, detailed proposal and good communication are also essential.

How long does a typical remodeling project take?

The timeline varies depending on the scope of work. Small projects like a bathroom update may take a few weeks, while larger projects like a kitchen remodel or a room addition can take several months. Your contractor can provide a more accurate estimate.

How much does home remodeling cost?

Costs vary widely based on the size of the project, materials used, and location. For example:

Kitchen remodels: $15,000–$50,000+
Bathroom remodels: $10,000–$30,000+
Whole-home remodels: $100,000–$300,000+
Discuss your budget with your contractor to find options that meet your needs.

Are there unexpected costs I should plan for?

Yes, unexpected issues like structural repairs, outdated electrical systems, or plumbing issues can arise. It’s wise to allocate 10–20% of your budget for contingencies.

How can I save money on a remodeling project?

Choose cost-effective materials.
Focus on high-impact areas.
Reuse or refinish existing elements, like cabinetry.
Avoid changes to structural elements if possible.

Do I need a permit for my remodeling project?

Most remodeling projects require permits, especially if they involve structural changes, electrical work, or plumbing. Your contractor should handle the permitting process for you.

Can I live in my home during the remodeling process?

It depends on the scope of work. Small projects may allow you to stay, but larger projects may require temporary relocation, especially if they affect kitchens, bathrooms, or bedrooms.

How do I decide on a design style?

Gather inspiration from magazines, online platforms, or showrooms. Consider your personal preferences, the home’s architecture, and resale value when selecting a style.

Can I use eco-friendly materials for my remodel?

Yes! Many sustainable options are available, including energy-efficient appliances, recycled materials, low-VOC paints, and bamboo or reclaimed wood flooring.

What materials are best for durability?

For long-lasting results:

Kitchens: Quartz countertops, solid wood cabinets, and stainless steel appliances.
Bathrooms: Porcelain tiles and moisture-resistant paints.
Flooring: Engineered wood, luxury vinyl, or tile.

What should I expect during the construction process?

Expect some noise, dust, and disruption. Your contractor will take steps to minimize the impact, such as setting up barriers and cleaning regularly. Clear communication with your contractor is essential to stay informed.

How do I handle delays or unexpected issues?

Delays can occur due to weather, material availability, or unforeseen issues. Stay flexible and maintain regular communication with your contractor to address problems as they arise.

Will my remodeling project increase my home’s value?

Yes, remodeling can increase your home’s value, especially kitchens, bathrooms, and curb appeal upgrades. The exact return on investment depends on the quality of work and the local market.

Do you offer warranties or maintenance support?

Most contractors provide warranties on their work. Ask your contractor about the specifics, including coverage duration and what is included.
